Interaction Program on Menstrual Hygiene and Elimination of Chhaupadi Practice
CAED organized a stakeholder interaction program focused on menstrual hygiene management and the elimination of the Chhaupadi practice in Karnali Province. The program brought together the NGO Federation and various civil society organizations actively working in the region.
The discussion emphasized strengthening policy-level advocacy to promote safe, dignified, and stigma-free menstrual hygiene practices. Participants also highlighted the importance of close collaboration with local governments to develop practical and sustainable action plans for effective implementation at the community level.
The program further stressed the need to engage and build the capacity of traditional healers (Dhamis and Jhankris) and religious leaders, recognizing their important role in driving positive social change.
The event concluded with a shared commitment to coordinated action, effective implementation, regular monitoring, and continuous learning to support the elimination of Chhaupadi and ensure menstrual health, dignity, and equality for all women and girls.
